Top 5 Places to Visit in 2015

Lovely people of the internet,

as you know by now, I’ve been bitten by the travel bug quite badly. All I want to do is pack my bags and travel the world. Unfortunately, there’s real life, responsibilities, university, pennilessness. If I could, I’d visit at least 10 countries a year, if not more. However, in 2014 I wasn’t able to do much traveling due to prior reasons and only made it to Belgium and the Netherlands, which is awesome, don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather take a plane to the States or Fiji.

Plane over Singapore

But without further ado, here are my top 5 places to visit in 2015, realistically.

1. Rome

I’ve never been to Rome, but I’ve always been fascinated by art and history, so Rome seems to be the perfect fit for me! I am in love with any Italien food, pizza, pasta, ice cream, get into ma belly! For some reason, I haven’t been to Italy properly yet, well I’ve visited the Lago Maggiore for a weekend and flew to Sardinia for a week, but does that really count? To me, Italy is so much more, so much culture and life. I want to sit in a café and watch the people go through everyday life situations, I want to visit the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, I want to marvel at the art and architecture all around the city and inside museums. I just want to breathe in roman air!

2. Bali (or some place hot, beachy and tropical in South-East Asia)

Asia just didn’t seem interesting to me, I wasn’t curious about it – until in 2011 I had the opportunity to intern with a start-up in Singapore – all expenses paid. Who could say no to that? To sum it up: I was blown away by the beauty of South-East Asia. I travelled to Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and I really enjoyed it’s diversity, it’s religion and hidden elegancy. The thing I’m lacking most in life at the moment is sunshine and beaches, so why not travel to South-East Asia again and discover some place new, such as Bali.

3. London

Where do I even begin to explain the greatness of this city? I’ve been to London 5 or 6 times now, and I can still discover it from a different angle. It’s the perfect place for foodies, clubbers, culture freaks, shoppers, the list goes on and on. London is my favorite city. Fullstop. I actually can’t believe I said that as I always thought I’d choose Sydney or New York over it, but it’s true: London, I love you.

4. Switzerland

Never have I ever been skiing – or any wintery activity of sorts (well, I went sledding as a kid on our country hills, but that’s about it). I definitely want to see the mountains and lots of snow! I want to do proper snow angles and learn how to snowboard, spend nights with red wine by the fireplace and test out the jacuzzi.

5. Greece

I’ve heard lovely things about the Greek islands and seen amazing picturesque landscapes with blue sky and water and pretty white towns in between.  I just want to relax on the beach and listen to the ocean.

As you can see, my itinerary is packed for 2015! To be honest, I don’t think I can travel to every destination this year, but then there’s even more to look forward to in 2016 🙂

What’s your travel obsession? Have you booked your 2015 vacation yet? Inspire me! ♥

  1. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to travel to several places and I hope to travel more often in the future once I’m out of school! I saw in the previous comments that you have a great-aunt in Santa Barbara, which is such a coincidence because that’s where I live! I’m Indonesian and most of my family lives there so I visit as often as I can, and Bali is beautiful! I would definitely recommend visiting if you’ve never been. I also recently visited London and several cities in Turkey, and absolutely loved both. London is such an amazing city, very different from Los Angeles, which is the city in most familiar with. Would love to go back.

    1. Wow! That sounds amazing! I loved Indonesia so much when I was there, seemed so peaceful! Very much looking forward to visit California one day, def give you a shout if I do! 🙂 thanks for your lovely comment!!! xx

  2. As I live in the States, I enjoy going down to Central/South America. My next dream destination is the Patagonia area in Chile/Argentina! So far I got to book a ticket to California and Korea for 2015, but a girl can dream right?

    1. I’d love to go to California as well, I even have a great-aunt in Santa Barbara, but it’s just too expensive at the moment 😦 sounds awesome thou, so does Korea!
