New Year’s Resolutions 2015

Lovely people of the internet,

to be honest, I am not much of a New Year’s resolutions girl, never have been. If I hear someone say “new year, new me” again, I will leave planet earth. BUT I thought I give in once and try to find some goals for this year, as there’re going to be some major changes in my life – so why not?!

1. Get My Life Together

As I said before, there are some big changes happening in my life in 2015. I (hopefully) will finally graduate from university after what feels like my 100th semester. So first, I need to get my arse in gear and start researching and writing my thesis – if anyone’s interested (which no one probably is), it’s about feminism and femininity in William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew. Then I need to find a job. Wow. Growing up. Well, it’s not like I’ve never worked properly before, but this feels kind of final, starting adulthood which is scary as hell. Speaking of coming of age, I might venture the step and move in with the bf. So as you see, there’s A LOT happening this year!

2. Do More of What Makes Me Happy

I really want to be more creative this year, as I feel that I kind of lost myself over the past year. Being creative is a big part of my life, be it cooking, DIY’s, writing, reading actual books (besides the one’s I have to read for university), decorating, learning how to write calligraphy, all that jazz. I already took the first step and started this blog, whoop! Oh, and I really want to start wearing hats, I’m in love with how they look but have been to scared to wear them outside yet (I live in Mainz which is pretty small).

3. Be Calm

Everyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I have ants in my pants. I can’t sit still without fiddling around with a pen or a piece of paper or anything that I can find. I tend to overthink EVERYTHING and stress myself out a lot. Therefore the plan for this year is to do more yoga (my friend Nina already hooked my up with a sweet yoga mat), to switch off more and if in doubt just do nothing. I also downloaded an app called Calm which hopefully will help to actually calm me down and help with my panic attacks.

4. Travel, Travel, Travel

I recently counted all the countries I have visited so far – it’s 25 including amazing places such as Singapore, the US, Australia, Vietnam. Last year though, I terribly failed in the traveling department: I only went to the Netherlands and Belgium for 4 days… Only thinking about it makes me want to pack my bags and drive to the airport to go somewhere. In 2015 I have a lot of traveling plans: I want to go somewhere tropical (probably South-East Asia again), fly to Rome where I’ve not been before and visit both of my favorite European cities London and Paris for the 4th time! I just can’t get enough of the beauty of Paris and the lifestyle of London!
